Shack Chic.. WHAT!!

A couple of years ago i came across some images of these colourful, simply beautiful "shack" interiors. I was really caught off guard with how beautiful and well kept these homes were. I then stumbled upon the actual Shack Chic book, photographed by Craig Fraser and published by David Krut in SKOOBS at Monte Casino awhile back. This book of awesome, documents the lives of the 'previously disadvantaged', its about the dignity that can be found in the rocky streets of 'shack lands'. The way these people who obviously do not take pleasure in the poverty they live in, but they stand proud in the face of it.

"This book celebrates a decorating spirit that renews and colours South Africa’s urban
landscape and claims worldwide appeal."

The real Africa - where I plant my roots...

I do not find the need to explain how awesome i think this continent is, as it speaks for itself. Trishula Patel breaks down the very essence of what makes Africa, Africa from the bad to the good. She explains the rawness, the uniqueness the reason why it lives in every visitors heart as well as those who make it their home.

Time to inspire!

I received this, this morning and just had to share. It literally turned my frown upside down after being kept awake by my ever so favorite mini tiger Archie with his harmonious cries at 4:30 in the morning, all the way until the sun started to creep up. Needless to say I rolled out of bed feeling ever so slightly grumples from lack of uninterrupted sleep.

Thank you Jackie you literally changed my Tuesday around.

Quick breath of fresh air!

It's official, i really do think i have landed myself a pretty cool new career. This past sunday we headed on out to the Drakensburg to get material for an ad we are shooting. This was a proper little nat geo style adventure (well, little young me thinks so and im claiming it), it was an adventure nontheless! We left jozi sparrows fart and headed toward harrysmith, then onto witsieshoek mountain lodge. on the way we were stopping, unpacking, stetting up, shooting, packing, moving, stopping, scanning, moving, shooting.... you get the just of it.

Boy oh boy, does it get chilli up there in those mountains, words CANNOT describe how cold it got, needless to say fashion was not the priority when heading to dinner. Early to bed flippen early to rise and off again towards the golden gate national park. as the sun started to light up the earth the mountains seemed to go from midnight blues, greys to burnt oranges, reds , browns it was litterally jaw dropping! On one of the stops we met a family of "GEETS" (a goat, sheep pavement special) well thats what we reakon it was. Next stop Clarens (clarens you will see my face again ) a quick lunch more shooting and then homward bound!
